Udupi: GP election 6.65% increase in voting

Udupi : In the Grama Panchayath election this time there has been a huge increase in voting. On Friday in the Grama Panchayath election, total 71.65 per cent voting. During 2010 the voting in the Grama Panchayath election was 65 per cent, which means 6.65 per cent increase in voting this time.

In the district there were 6,97,008 voters and out of them 4,99,438 voters have voted this time. There are more women voters in Udupi district. Out of the 3,64,984 women voters 2,68,410 (69.59%) voters and out of 3,31,999 men voters 2,31,026 (69.59%) voters have voted.

 Here the women voters have voted 3.59% more than men, so the women have shown that they are more committed towards performing their obligation than men.

 In Kundapura Taluk out of the 2,25,855 voters 1,75,015 voters have voted. In Udupi Taluk out of 3,33,291 voters 2,19,628 voters have voted. And in Karkala Taluk out of 1,39,862 voters 1,04,795 voters have casted their votes.

Minimum Voters from third gender (Transgender)

This time the third genders (Transgender) were included in the voters list for the first time. But the Transgender who have been fighting for their rights in the society have backed out in voting as the Transgender.

 In Udupi district’s voter list 25 persons (17 from Kundapura and 8 from Udupi) had listed their names as the third gender. Among them only 2 (8%) third gender voters have casted their votes. No Transgender has voted in Kundapura.
