Ullala: Dead body of a person from Bengaluru working with the Mangaluru branch of ISKCON was found in decomposed state in Nethravathy river in Adankudru here on Sunday afternoon August 9. The family of the deceased have allleged foul play in the death and lodged a complaint against the Mangaluru head of ISKCON in Ullala police station.

The deceased has been identified as Ravi Kumar (25), son of K. Narasimha Murthy and Saraswathy, residents of Tippenahalli near Jindal in Bengaluru. Wire of a mobile charger was found tied around the neck and the body was tied to a bag filled with heavy stones.

His parents have accused that Tarunya Sagar Das, the chief of ISKCON Mangaluru branch has murdered Ravi Kumar.

Ravi Kumar after finishing his B.E in mechanic at Saptagiri engineering college in Bengaluru completed his Mtech in manufacturing department in NITK in Surathkal. He was topper in technical university, his brother Narendra said.

As he was interested in religious activities, he got in touch with ISKCON volunteers in Mangaluru during his studies and later joined the organization full time. He would rarely visit his family in Bengaluru, it is learnt, but would talk to them over the phone at least two or three times a week. Over the past one week or so, his calls had totally stopped. As Ravikumar used to travel to other places for religious discourses, he would often be unreachable on phone, hence the family did not worry at first, Narendra said.

He further said that on Friday, August 7, one of Ravi's classmates informed them that he had not heard from Ravi since last Sunday, and people at ISKCON had failed to give any satisfactory reply. When worried family member came to Mangaluru thereafter and sought information about Ravi, the members of ISKCON failed to answer their questions. Finally, ISKCON's Sharath Vihari Das told them that Ravi had gone missing, but did not give any details," Narendra said.

The family members then searched for Ravi in Udupi but could no find him. On Sunday ISKCON chief told them that the dead body of Ravi has been found in Nethravathy river.

Narendra has alleged that the chief of ISKCON Mangaluru has failed to give proper answer to their questions and claimed that they are responsible for Ravi's death.

The body was shifted to a private hospital for post-mortem. Police commissioner S. Murugan visited the mortuary and assured a thorough investigation.
