Teenager Dies During Street Wrestling

HYDERABAD: A teenager died in a wrestling match organised by local boys in Hyderabad. The 17-year-old died on the spot after the fight on May 3 where nearly 10 boys were present.

The boy's father works in Dubai and rushed to Hyderabad after he got to know about the incident. He asked the boys present about what had happened on that day and they told the family that the teenager died in a road accident. But suspecting foul play, the boy's father complained to the police which registered a case of suspicious death.

The police sent the teen's body for post-mortem and arrested one of the boys as part of their investigation on Friday. On interrogation, the boy narrated the whole incident to the police.

The police then arrested two other boys who were present during the mishap; they told the police that they regularly organise such fights in which two people face-off against each other in an open space. The police also recovered a video of the incident, which shows the boy collapsing to the ground after sustaining blows from his opponent.

According to the police, the boys who were present at the scene took the 17-year-old to the hospital and informed his family. They also told them that the boy died in a road accident and the family accepted their story, the police said.
