Moral policing: Man slaps Gauahar Khan for 'wearing indecent clothes'
Mumbai: In a shocking act of moral policing, a 24-year-old man slapped actor and anchor Gauahar Khan three-four times during the shooting of 'India's Raw Star' allegedly because he felt her clothing was indecent. The man has been identified as Mohammed Akhil Malik.

The incident took place at a studio in Film City, where the actress was shooting for the finale of the show 'India's Raw Star' on Sunday evening. A source on the set said, "Gauahar finished her act and came and sat in the audience, which is what she normally does when an artiste is performing.

A man got up from the audience, went up to her and slapped her three-four times apparently because he felt her clothes were indecent. Crew members caught hold of him and handed him over to the police.'' Since it was the finale and was being telecast in a deferred live format, Gauahar had to continue shooting. "She went back to her make-up van and took some time to get over the shock. She then came back and completed her portion of the shooting, which included announcing Rituraj Mohanty as the winner. Then, she left the venue immediately and didn't stay back.

Senior Inspector Vilas Chavan of Aarey police station said, "The accused had been attending the shoots from the past three days as an audience member. He slapped the actress during the shooting. We arrested the accused under IPC Sections 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt) and 354 (Outraging modesty)." Sajid of Sajid-Wajid duo, who came to Gauahar's rescue said, "It was shocking to see a man can come up on stage and slap a celebrity. Wonder what the security was doing. It is scary. Gauahar's cheeks did swell up but the brave woman came back and completed her shoot. She is a strong woman.''
