Think before you drink: Packaged water harmful to health
New Delhi: Drinking packaged water may appear to be good for health but you are wrong. A new study has revealed, that it may be exposing your body to an onslaught of chemicals.

Recently, a research was conducted by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in 18 bottled water companies in Mumbai and revealed the presence of harmful chemicals in samples of bottled water.

The centre took 5-5 sample from the 18 bottled water companies for the research and found out that 1 litre of packaged water contained 27% Bromate.

Drinking of packaged water with high amount of Bromate could cause diseases like cancer, stomach infection and hair fall. It is said that only 10% Bromate is supposed to be used in for bottled water.

According to WHO, only 4 mg of Bromate is needed for packaged water.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that they will go through the report and will take the necessary steps to make the water safer for consumption.
