PFI holds huge protest in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: The district unit of Popular Front of India (PFI) on Friday registered a complaint against Vishwa Hindu Parisha’s Dakshina Prata Pramukh Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat accusing him of making a speech hurting religious sentiments during the Virat Hindu Sangam, held in Puttur on January 16.
In a complaint, Arsha, a PFI activist, had accused Mr. Bhat of speaking lightly about wearing burqas and other customs followed by Muslims. He also accused Mr. Bhat of defaming the Muslims. The Puttur Town Police have registered the complaint.
Earlier, PFI organized a huge demonstration seeking harmony in the district. The protest demonstration condemned the recent communal clashes that erupted at Karaya in Beltangady and the subsequent incidents at Uppinangady.
In his address, PFI district president A M Athavullah sought action, including invoking the provisions of the Gooda Act against persons who are disturbing peace in the district. He also said that people like Praveen Togadia, Jagadish Karanth and Pramod Muthalik should not be allowed to enter the district.
