Body-building competition at Bajpe on Sunday

A body-building competition will be conducted at Bajpe grounds, on the outskirts of the city, on February 22.

Organised by Dakshina Kannada Association of Body Builders and Shakthi Friends, Kenjaru the competitions would be conducted in senior, master and handicap mister categories, a release said. The competition for body-builders of Dakshina Kannada would begin at 7.30 p.m.

There would be a tug of war competition for men at 1 p.m. It would be for people coming under Bajpe and Malavoor Gram Panchayats jurisdiction.

All the winners would get certificates, medals and cash prizes, the release said.

Popular front day celebrated by PFI

Bajpe: Popular front of India celebrated Popular front day at Sunkadakatte by hoisting a flag at Sunkadakatte junction.

Mosque president Saduddin hoisted the flag.

PFI division chief secretary Siraj Bajpe said that this is the day for underprivileged and poor people.

Chief guests were secretary of PFI, Hakim Kolambe and president of the front of Bajpe division, Yahya Bajpe and Riyaz ,president Sunkadakatte area.

Stones pelted at Mosques in Bajpe

Bajpe: Miscreants pelted stones at Jumma Masjid and Eidgah masjid here on the late night of Saturday February 14.

The window panes of the mosques have been damaged due to the stone pelting. A case has been filed in Bajpe police station.

Panambur ACP, Bajpe circle inspector had visited the spot. Leaders of Popular Front of India demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and stern action against them.

New building of Jagadish C. Shetty educational institution inaugurated

Bajpe: Good education is needed to make children good citizens and it is also important to make them aware about the social living said B. Ramanath Rai, state forest minister. He was speaking after inaugurating the new extended Jagadish C. Shetty education centre building of the Malavoor Popular Bunts English Medium higher school.

On this occasion Kateel Durgaparameshwari conference hall was also inaugurated. The Popular Jagadish C. Shetty Charitable Foundation was inaugurated by President of SCDCC bank Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The occasion was graced by the priest of Kateel Durgaparameshwari temple K. Laxminarayana Asranna and Kamaladevi Prasada Asranna.

Businessman Atthur Babu Shetty inaugurated the chamber of the founder executive President of the trust. Dr. Jayaram Shetty, Chairman of Shridevi Education Trust, Bengaluru was present.

MLA J.R Lobo, Ivan D’Souza, former MP K. Amarnath Shetty, former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty, A. Sadananda Shetty, President of Shadridevi group of education institutions were felicitated by the Executive President of Popular Bunts higher school, Jagadish C. Shetty.

Scholarship for 101 students:

The new scholarship plan of Jagadish Shetty Education Foundation which intends to provide financial support to the 101 students who have scored good marks was initiated on this occasion by handing over Rs. 1000 each to 9 students.

Campus front of India offers financial support to the family of Nayana

Bajpe: Members of Campus front of India visited the house of Nayana, who died in a road accident in Swamilapadav here on Saturday December 20.

Campus front of India consoled the family and offered financial assistance.  Speaking to the parents of Nayana, district committee member of campus front of India Badsha Todar said, God is testing the family and they must not lose faith and be brave.

He also said that his organisation will visit schools and colleges to create awareness among the students about the dangers of rash and negligence driving and even about the problems occur by riding vehicles without license.

Nayana was the daughter of poor parents who live in Perara. The family leads life by tying beedi. Her father is a daily wage worker. They were very optimistic about their daughter. But the destiny had something else in its mind.

Sand laden lorry topples: Driver injured

Bajpe: A sand laden lorry toppled near Kanikatta here on Saturday December 20.

The driver of the lorry sustained injuries in the incident. The incident happened when the lorry after loading the sand was on its way to destination. The driver lost control on unleveled terrain and as a result lorry overturned front side down.

The driver was admitted to the hospital. A case has been filed in Bajpe police station.

College girl dies on the spot in gruesome accident in Swamilapadav

Bajpe: In a gruesome accident that happened on Saturday December 20, a college girl lost her life on the spot.

The incident took place on the wee hours of Saturday at around 9.30am in Swamilapadav. The deceased has been identified as Nayana (18), student of St. Raymond College, Bajpe and was a resident of Perara.

On Saturday morning Nayana was on her way to college. On the way a friend of her offered drop to her to the college in his Honda Activa. Due to the rash and negligence riding of the boy the vehicle lost control and skidded. As a result Nayana was thrown on the road.

A tipper Lorry speeding behind their two wheeler went pass on her head and Nayana died on the spot. Bajpe police rushed to the spot and after inspection sent the body to the hospital for post mortem.

The eyes of the people gathered in the spot dampened as the boy was trying to lift body of Nayana whose face was completely destroyed in the accident. Eye witnesses blame rash and negligence driving of the rider for the incident.

Bandh effect: Stones pelted at vehicles in Bajpe

Surathkal: Miscreants pelted stones at private bus, tempo and KSRTC Rajahamsa bus on Monday December 8 at various places in bandh hit areas.
Hindu outfits have called for a strike in Bajpe, Gurupur, Vamanjur, Kaikamba and surrounding areas in the wake of communal clash on December 5 in Ulaibettu.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Driver of the Fathima bus was injured as stones were pelted at the bus.  A KSRTC Rajahamsa bus and tempo plying from Bengaluru were also came under the fury of the protesters.

High police security was deployed in the strike hit areas to prevent any unlawful incidents.
