Lawyers protest and demand for the arrest of Nagaraj who allegedly assaulted a lawyer

Mangaluru:  Lawyers in Mangaluru protested demanding arrest of a cop T. D Nagaraj who allegedly assaulted a lawyer few days ago. Mangaluru Bar association lawyers participated in the protest.

Bar association president S.C.Changappa spoke on this occasion and said that lawyer Uttam Rai when he had been to Kadri police station with his client was beaten and locked up in cell by T.D.Nagaraj.

The police commissioner after responding to the request from the lawyers had suspended the cop. But with due respect to his order, they demanded the cop should be arrested according to law.

He said that the cop should be arrested by bringing him under law and justice. Lawyer Uttam Rai has gone through the procedure. He had presented him before the court and had got a bail. Likewise action must be taken on Nagaraj he demanded.

He warned that if the cop is not arrested and taken action according to law they will have to take lawful step against him.

Vice president of the association Yashodhar Karkera, CS Raghavendra, treasurer Yathish, Uttam Kumar Rai and others were present.

Women should contribute to the development of India: J.R.Lobo

Mangaluru: Women and Children Welfare Ministry, Infants development scheme, 2nd division Anganwadi centers celebrated tenth anniversary at Suma Sadan, Kadri.

MLA J.R.Lobo inaugurated the program. He said “In history, women have played magnificent roles. Their contribution towards the development of nation and society is very important. Women have vast opportunities in democracy”. He also asked women to serve the country along with family. And said that, society can be changed through women’s power.

Shakthinagar anganwadi was chosen as the best anganwadi. MCC member Roopa d Bangera and drama director G.K.Shrinivas Salian were at the dais.

Delay in filing complaint: Kadri ASI suspended

Mangaluru: Kadri police station ASI Kamala has been suspended for delaying in filing the case of abduction and assault on a student nun.

A nun student was abducted and was manhandled by some miscreants on Monday March 17. When the victim went to Kadri police station the ASI made her to wait till the inspector and sub inspector arrives.

The victim who was already traumatized by the incident got anxious.

Later the matter was brought into the notice of police commissioner S.Murugan. He then initiated a disciplinary action against the ASI and issued a suspension order.

Shivarathri celebrations all over the district

Mangaluru: thousands of devotees participated in pooja rituals of Shivaratri in various temples in and around the city.

Kadri  Shri Manjunath Temple, Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwar, Pandeshwar Mahalingeshwar, Urva Panchalingeshwar, Dharmastala Shri Manjunatheshwar Surathkal Mahalingeshwar temples and many more in the city celebrated the festival with great enthusiasm and devotion.

Devotees performed rituals and fasting on the day of shivarathri to get the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Kadri police arrest two notorious Chain snatchers

Mangaluru: Police have arrested two notorious chain snatchers in the city on Thursday February 5.

The arrested are Sooraj (31) and his brother Dhanraj (21) residents of Vyasanagar near Karnataka Polytechinic (KPT) here.

The arrest was done relating to the case filed by Ravichandra Bhat, resident of Kadri. On January 17 when Bhat was standing near the gate of his house, the accused had suddenly arrived there, punched his face and robbed him of a gold chain weighing 34 gms and valued at Rs 75,000.

Police sources said that Sooraj is already facing charges of drug-peddling.

Case filed against Pramod Muthalik at Kadri police station

Mangaluru: Kadri police have registered a case against Sri Rama Sene leader Pramod Muthalik for his call to chop off the hands of rapists. The police had treated the above statement of Muthalik as an attempt to disrupt peace and instigate violence.  After obtaining permission from the court, the policemen registered the case suo motu.

It may be recalled that on Sunday November 16, Muthalik had called upon people to chop off hands of rapists. He also had stated that he would be reimbursing court costs of those who follow this advice while speaking in a press meet at Arya Samaja here.
