Tata Nano GenX, Nano AMT to launch soon

Tata is gearing up to launch the GenX Nano soon. The new car gets revised styling, an AMT gearbox and an opening tailgate.

Spotted testing in an undisguised form, the GenX Nano gets restyled front and rear bumpers, smoked headlamps, a rear foglamp under the tailgate and the exhaust tucked away beneath the new bumper.

Other changes include an opening tailgate to access the rear luggage compartment, a 24-litre tank instead of the current 15-litres, and the option for an AMT gearbox with Sport mode. As per ARAI tests the GenX Nano Easy Shift (AMT) is expected to return 21.9kpl.

In preparation of the launch, Tata has announced an exclusive program for all current Nano owners giving them the privilege to become one of the first owners of the new GenX Nano Easy Shift (AMT). Under this program existing Nano owners can avail of exchange offers for their current Nano, as well as a further discount of Rs 20,000. Nano owners will also be able to sign on for a referral program and earn Rs5,000 for every referral made.

In addition, Tata has also announced that it will make donations to Child Rights and You on behalf of customers purchasing the GenX Nano under this program.

The GenX Nano will be offered in three trim levels — XE, XM and XT with the XM and XT likely to get the AMT transmission. The GenX Nano will also get the addition of two new paint schemes — Sangria Red and Persian Rose.

Twist in Nano : Tata Nano Twist XE to Launch Next Month

Nov 7, AI : On December 2014, the Tata Nano will be available in new trim, the Nano Twist XE. This trim will be the base trim, and the current lower-specced Nano CX and Nano LX trims will be discontinued; the Twist XT trim will be retained.

This means the Tata Nano will now be available in two trims - base Twist XE and top-end Twist XT. This also means that the Tata Nano, henceforth, will be available with power steering in all the variants.

This is basically a shuffling of the trim levels without too many changes to the car. Cosmetically, this Twist XE trim will have to do with black bumpers and no wheel caps. Good news is, it comes with power steering. The steering wheel is bigger, and there’s also a new instrument cluster that has a trip meter and displays fuel economy, distance to empty, and digital clock. Other features and equipment have been carried over from the current Nano CX trim.

The Tata Nano Twist XE will be available in three colors, silver, gold and white.
