Autonomous coconut plucking machine: invention by NITTE students
Karkala: The final year students of NMAMIT of NITTE College have invented a machine that plucks coconuts from the trees without the help of humans.
Under the guidance of Mech. Eng. Professor Grayenel Demello, students Dahnraj, Karthik, Kiran Kumar, Vishwas Kumar have developed the machine. The machine is made such a way that it adjusts itself to the width of the coconut plant.
Robot arm will pluck the coconuts all by itself without the help of humans. The machine runs on electricity and can be run on batteries too.
They are completely different from the other machine that demands human to operate. The machine weighs 12 kgs and costs 20 thousand rupees. The invention has won ‘Ex Pro Project of the Year’ title in NITTE in the year 2015.
