Mumbai: The Tilak Nagar police arrested a 40-year-old tailor on Sunday for raping his 16-year-old daughter for a year. He had threatened to kill the girl if she spoke about the rape and the abuse may have remained under wraps had the family’s landlord not noticed that the girl was pregnant and alerted a social worker.

Cops said that the girl, who is seven months pregnant, lived with her father and two brothers in the hutments of the Tilak Nagar area. Her mother had separated from the accused in the month of January. “The accused has eight children in all, from two wives.

He had got a divorce from one of the wives earlier and following the separation from the other wife, he took the custody of three children while the rest remained with her. Just before her mother left the home, the girl informed her about bleeding from her private parts, but the mother did not realise that she was raped,” said a police officer from Tilak Nagar police station.

“The accused had threatened to kill the girl if she spoke about the abuse. The landlord, who had sensed something wrong was going on, had been urging them to leave her house and shift somewhere else. When she noticed the girl was pregnant, however, the landlord contacted a social worker and the tailor’s abuse of his daughter came to light,” he added.
‘Dead husband’
According to police officials, the 16-year-old was so scared and traumatised that she even told the social worker that nothing was wrong. Only after some time did she open up and reveal that her father had got her pregnant.

“Investigations also revealed that the accused had taken her to Rajawadi hospital in May to check on her pregnancy, claiming that she was an adult and her husband had died. After the reports revealed she was pregnant, she was taken home and ordered to keep quiet. Since then, the victim stayed at home and did household chores,” added an officer.

Nabbed

On Sunday, the social worker alerted the police, following which a case was registered and the accused was nabbed. The 40-year-old has been booked under Sections 376 (2) (Taking advantage of official position and committing rape on a woman in his custody) and 506 (Criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code along with Sections 4, 6, 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. He was produced in court yesterday and has been remanded in police custody.

Kundapur: A BA student tried to rape a girl student in the college premise in front of other students and staff of the college. The incident took place on Friday August 7 at govenrment first grade college in Huralisar in Bhatkal.

The accused has been identified as Keshav Ganapati Naik, a resident of Shirani village in Kaikini panchayat limit. The victim girl is studying in first year BBA in the college.

Speaking to the media the victim girl said, the accused pulled her burkha in the broad day light and touched her body inappropriately. He even abused her with foul languages.

As the news spread town police station PSI D'Souza and team visited the college and recorded the statements of the victim girl and the principal.

Bengaluru: The parents of a three-year-old nursery girl student from a reputed school lodged a complaint of sexual assault on their daughter in Indiranagar police station on Monday.

The parents suspected that the incident could have happened on the school premises. A family friend of the victim said, “The girl came home crying from school on Monday, complaining of abdominal pain.

When her mother asked, the girl said, ‘uncle.... school.’ The shocked mother informed her husband, who took her to Bowring Hospital where the doctors reportedly confirmed sexual assault.

The parents rushed to the Indiranagar station and lodged a complaint, even as doubts were raised over whether the child had been sexually assaulted at all.

The parents alleged that the police were discriminating against them, as they were from the Northeast. DCP Satheesh Kumar, East, asked the police station to register the case.

Karkala: A youth tried to rape and murder a girl working in a studio in Hosmaru here on Monday August 3. Locals caught hold of the accused and thrashed him red and blue after tying him to a pole.

The accused has been identified as Satish (19) a resident of Eedu village. He came to the studio in the pretext of taking his photograph and tried to kill the girl by strangulating her. When the girl screamed for help nearby shopkeepers rushed to help her and caught the accused. He was later tied to a pole and was thrashed by the locals. The girl was later admitted to taluk government hospital in Karkala.

Karkala police rushed to the spot and took the accused into their custody. A case has been filed in Karkala police station.

Puttur: A student tried to rape a girl who was returning to home after college. Theincident took place in Sorake in Sarve village here on July 28.
The accused has been arrested and a case has been filed under POCSO act.

It is reported that the girl student had came to the college on July 28. As it was holiday on that day she was returning to her home. When she reached a thoroughfare youth named Abusali, son of Hameed, a resident of Kooduraste in Kaniyoor waylaid her and tried to rape her.

When the girl shouted for help girl's aunt rushed to the spot. On seeing this the accused pushed her on the ground and escaped from the site.
Victim's aunt informed the matter to her brother who along with locals chased down the accused and handed over to the police after beating him black and blue.

Kundapur: A case has been filed against the Edamoge gram panchayat vice president for trying to rape a girl in a moving car.

The accused has been named as Balachandra (36). The girl had visited to college to get her transfer certificate. The accused offered drop to the girl to her home and allegedly tried to rape her. The accused is now absconding.

It is reported that Balachandra, a congress supported member of Edamoge gram panchayat was travelling by his Omni car. He came across the girl who was walking towards the bus stand after visiting the college for TC. Balachandra stopped his car and by telling the name of a relative of the girl he offered her lift.

As it was raining heavily in the region the accused took advantage of this and drove his vehicle through unfamiliar route instead of going directly towards her home. He then tried to kiss and rape her and even gave his mobile number to her. As the girl screamed for help he dropped her nearby her house and fled away, it is said.

The girl explained the whole matter to her parents who filed a case in the police station. As soon as the accused got information of the case filed against him, he went absconding.
A case has been filed in Shankaranarayana police station.

Badaun (Uttar Pradesh): A teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped in Kadar chowk area in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun by three persons, including the son of a Samajwadi party leader, police said on Monday.

"The incident took place on the night of July 18 when Omendra Pal, son of SP leader Tekchand Pal and two others, Narendra and Surendra, allegedly abducted the 14-year-old girl and took her to a mango orchard and raped her," police said.

The girl later narrated the incident to her family members, who registered an FIR in this regard on Sunday. The medical report of the girl has confirmed rape.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Anil Kumar Yadav said that one of the accused Surendra has been arrested while search is on to nab two others.

Karkala: Court has handed over the accused in rape case of step mother’s daughter to the judicial custody.

The accused is Sudheer (27), a resident of Pilar in Shirva. It is said that his father has two wives, Baby and Meenakshi. Accused Sudheer is the son from the first wife.

Sudheer works in a boys hostel of a private firm in Moodabidri. His step mother’s 17 year old daughter was working in a sweet factory in Jantra in Belman.

It is alleged that Sudheer raped the girl while she was returning from work eight months back by dragging her to a nearby bush. He also threatened to kill her if the matter is leaked outside.

The girl stated in her complaint that Sudheer continuously raped her in the same bush. As a result she got pregnant and was admitted to Udupi district maternity hospital. She narrated her story to the doctors in the hospital.

As the accused and the victim were from Shirva police limits, the doctors informed the matter to the shirva station. But as the rape spot was falling under Karkala jurisdiction, the case was filed in Karkala rural police station.

Kaup circle inspector Sunil Y. Nayak arrested the accused as per the direction of the Udupi district Superintendant of Police Annamalai.

Shirva station officer Ashok Kumar, Karkala rural station officer Mahadev Shetty and staff were present during the operation.
