"An actor's son or daughter need not be actor" : Says SRK

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says his children are currently busy with their studies and are too young to decide on joining Bollywood.

The 49-year-old actor, who has three children - Aryan, Suhana and AbRam - with wife Gauri, said like any concerned parent he wants his kids to finish their studies first.

"My children are too young to decide on becoming actors. They have to study, finish their studies first. I am very clear about it and they are very clear about it," Shah Rukh said.

The "Happy New Year" star said it is up to his kids to decide on their career path and they don't have to necessarily become an actor like him.

"An actor's son or daughter need not be actor. I have left it to them. The first part of my job is to educate them so that they can make the right decision of what they want.

"At this point of time there is no talk of AbRam, Aryan or Suhana to become actors... They have to study first," said the actor, who was in the capital for the launch of real estate company Mahagun's new luxury housing 'The M Collection'.

Shah Rukh was recently in Kolkata along with his children to attend the opening IPL match played between his team Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians.

Aryan and Suhana have been regularly cheering KKR during the previous IPL seasons but it was the first outing for Shah Rukh's youngest son AbRam, who was seen having a good time at the opening match of the Twenty-20 extravaganza at Eden Gardens.

"My little one shows interest in everything I take him to. Poor guy doesn't understand much. We all thought he would go off to sleep but we were very surprised. He was up till 2am. He was really enjoying and also learned two new words, 'yay' and 'KKR'," the actor said.

It’s Shah Rukh Khan Vs BJP MP Poonam Mahajan

Politician Poonam Mahajan BJP MP from Mumbai North Central has written to the BMC, asking them to demolish the ramp in front of the actor Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow Mannat in Bandra.

The ramp which is outside the bungalow is an issue for the people in Bandra since long. The actor uses that ramp to park his vanity vans sometimes. Residents are facing this problem since long time.

Poonam Mahajan wrote to municipal commissioner Sitaram Kunte on January 29, and asked him to get the illegal ramp demolished. It is the first time that some politician has raised this issue, till date the residents were fighting for these problems alone.

As per the reports, Mahajan has written letter after the resident met her and showed her documents that proved that the road belongs to the government and should be handed over to the public for use.

Seems it’s Shah Rukh Khan Vs Poonam Mahajan now.

There is no response from Shah Rukh Khan yet. The actor is busy shooting with his upcoming movies. The actor had also missed 60th Filmfare awards 2015.

SRK and Salman have no nominations this year inFilmfare!!

Shahrukh khan and Salman Khan have no nominations this year for the upcoming 60th Britannia Filmfare Awards Nominations.

Not only have the actors not got nominated for the Best Actor (Male) category, their films, Happy New Year and Kick respectively too have been lagging in the nomination race.

Abhishek Bachchan got nominated in the Best Actor in Supporting Role (Male) category for his role in Happy New Year and Shreya Ghoshal for Best Singer (Female) for Manwa lage (Happy New Year) and Himesh Reshammiya, Meet Bros Anjjan and Honey Singh got nominated for Best Music Director for Kick.

Apart from these three nominations listed above, both Kick and Happy New Year have not been nominated in any section. We are not saying that they are brilliant movies who deserved nominations over other films but when you look at the nominations it does make you wonder.

Like, Nawazuddin Siddiqui deserved to have been nominated for the Best Actor In Supporting Role category rather than Abhishek Bachchan and if you could nominated Sonam Kapoor for Khoobsurat then probably Salman Khan deserved a chance at the Best Actor In Leading Role nominations as well.

This year's nomination list has been ruled by 2 States, which deserves the recognition but Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan films being totally ignored is a bit weird.

Salman may be ignored owing to his allergies with award shows but Shahrukh Khan has won over 14 Filmfare awards till date, out of which, he has won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Baazigar (1993), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Devdas (2002), Swades (2004), Chak De! India (2007) and My Name Is Khan (2010).

However they have made up for the missing names through Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards where every actor's name who is missing in film awards list has been listed for their glamorous side and style sense.

Bachchan family, SRK, Bollywood fire-up the opening ceremony of Kolkata film festival

Kolkata: In a splendid show of Bollywood camaraderie and the mingling of politicians and celebrities, the 20th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) -- India's second oldest movie fest - was inaugurated here Monday by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

It was light, camera and action at the Netaji Indoor Stadium here, where an awed audience watched the stars descend and also saw the Indian screen giants raise a toast to the cinema buffs, in Bengali, for their sheer interest in films and love for the film personalities.

Draped in uttariyas (stoles) gifted by Banerjee, the Bachchan clan comprising Amitabh, his wife and veteran actress Jaya, son and actor Abhishek and actress-daughter-in-law Aishwarya, seated on the dais, set the evening on fire with their oomph, charisma and reiteration of their links to Bengal.

Strains of light classical music by percussionist Bickram Ghosh, classical music vocalist Rashid Khan and singer Usha Uthup set the tune for the magical evening as Big B and SRK hugged each other briefly. Indian filmmakers Amol Palekar and Shoojit Sircar graced the occasion with a host of Bengali film actors.

Looking suave in black tuxedos, Big B and SRK were assisted by the thali girl, actress Raima Sen in a bright red sari, as they lit the ceremonial lamp with Banerjee. Thunderous applause went up as Aishwarya and Jaya followed suit. A regular fixture in big events of the state government, Shah Rukh, also the state's brand ambassador, was greeted with loud cheers as he urged international delegates to try the variety of sweets from Bengal.

Attired in gold and black, Aishwarya, the former beauty queen launched the official brochure while veteran actress Tanuja and Jaya released a music CD of Bengali music. Jaya, in a sophisticated white-beige sari, said she was delighted to be there with the rest of the family and wished grand-daughter Aaradhya would join them one day on the same stage.

"It has become a family event for us," she said. Both Tanuja and Jaya, acknowledged that the Bengali audience is "the best in the world" while a very sporting Aishwarya congratulated the orchestra on their rousing performance and thanked the chief minister in broken Bengali. "Amader poribarer proti apnader ashirvad bhlaobashar jonyo onek onek dhonyobaad (thank you for the love and affection that you have showered on our family)," said Aishwarya.

Among the international delegates, award-winning Australian filmmaker Paul Cox was present to witness the spectacle that he compared to a soccer event.

"I thought I was in a soccer field," observed Cox, who was astounded at the size and scale of the ceremony. "When you see a film on the big screen you realise the true power of the cinema," he noted. Cox is part of the jury that decides the winner of KIFF's maiden competitive segment- the best international women directors.

Actor Irrfan Khan hoped the film festival "would inspire the new generation to find their own voice and engage an universal audience". "I think I should change my name to 'Dhhonyobad' (thank you in Bengali)," said Irrfan, triggerring delirious roars from the spectators when he uttered a few words in Bengali.

SRK, who had at last year's opening gala promised to talk in Bengali, did so spiritedly and with full gusto. Present for the fourth opening ceremony, the superstar remarked the event gets "bigger, better, flamboyant and more vibrant" each year. After SRK's stress on the role of Indian cinema in uniting people in a technology-driven world, Big B's thought-provoking speech on the changing role of women in society, mirrored in cinema, perfectly rounded off the evening.

Banerjee on her part expressed her desire to transform the regional film industry into a world-class facility and bring Hollywood, Bollywood and world cinema to Kolkata. Boasting of a rich oeuvre of 137 films from 60 countries, the fest will see 40 international delegates and 15 segments. There will be 31 Indian films, including 13 Bengali films. It concludes Nov 17.
