Chandigarh: A Chandigarh-based child rights activist and theatre artist has been arrested on charges of sodomy and attempted murder. 

Acting on a complaint filed by six victims and the accused’s former partner, the Chandigarh police arrested Zulfiqar Khan (45) on Saturday. 

The victims, in their complaint to the Chandigarh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said that the accused, who runs the NGO Theatre Age group, has been having unnatural sex with the students at a school run by his NGO during the past six or seven years.

The victims also alleged that Zulfiqar used to threaten the children. 

The boys, who are now adults, recently lodged the complaint against Khan. 

The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights had asked the Chandigarh police to probe the allegations, which were corroborated by the alleged victims and other students during the probe.

The medical examination reportedly confirmed that the victims were sodomised. 

They have also submitted videos and photos which allegedly show the accused sexually abusing the children.

“Zulfiqar Khan has been arrested under various sections of the IPC. He was produced in a court on Sunday. We are investigating the case to find out whether the accused abused more children,” Sector 11 SHO Narinder Patial said.  

Bantwal: A 16 year boy was arrested for sexually harassing a 1st std girl in Punacha here.

It is stated in the complaint filed by the parents of the victim that the accused has took the girl to a secluded area while she was on her way to lavatory and stripped her dress before sexually abusing her.

When the parents of the victim learnt about the incident they lodged a complaint in Vittla police station. The accused has been booked under POCSO act.

Punancha Hindu Rakshana Vedike and D.K Dalit Seva Samithi have condemned the incident and urged the police to take stringent action against the accused.

Bantwal circle police inspector Belliyappa and  Vittla police sub inspector Prakash Devadiga are leading the investigation.

Lucknow: A national level kabaddi player was allegedly beaten up for resisting a molestation attempt in Kanpur district. The player, Sneha Singh, popularly known as Dolly, who was allegedly manhandled by the accused, has received several injuries to her face. According to the girl, about 10 to 12 people stormed into her house in Kanpur and beat her up following a molestation attempt that she had resisted.

The men were armed with sticks and guns and also hurled abuse at her. The victim’s father said that they had approached the police but no action was taken. “The police said that a case would be registered but no action has been taken thereafter,” he said on Wednesday.

Later, a case was registered but no arrests have yet been made. According to the medical examination, Dolly suffered several minor injuries but a medical report from a private hospital showed a fractured nose. “After receiving the medical reports, complaint have been lodged against the culprits under the IPC section 323, 504, 506, 452 and 325,” SSP Kanpur Shalabh Mathur said.

“Under the supervision of the SP, our force has been divided into two teams to search for the culprits”, he added. The incident took place on June 15 near her house when the two accused, Ujala Thakur and Gandhi, misbehaved and tried to molest Dolly.

The police in Kerala have issued a lookout notice against Father Edwin Figurez, a catholic priest who is accused of abusing a 14-yar-old girl for four months in Puthenelikkara church in Ernakulam.

The girl, a Class 10 student, was involved in church activities and worked with the priest for over a year.

The priest has gone into hiding after Kerala High Court rejected his anticipatory bail on May 5. Police has seized his passport.  

The case against the priest was filed by the girl's mother on April 1st. She alleged that the priest abused her daughter several times over a period of four months.

 
 

Puttur: An auto driver was thrashed by the public for allegedly trying sexually abuse a woman in Alangar near Kadaba on Thursday April 16.

The rickshaw driver has been named as Mahesh Poojary, a resident of Kayyappe in Alangar.

It is said that the woman had hired his auto rickshaw to go to her house in Nadthila on Thursday morning. But instead of going to Nandthila Mahesh had turned the rickshaw to Nagthi. When woman told Mahesh that he is on the wrong route Mahesh continued to go on the same direction, it is said.

It is stated in the complaint that Mahesh stopped the rickshaw at a secluded place and allegedly tried to sexual assault the woman. When she shouted, locals gathered in the spot and thrashed Mahesh.

It is learnt that around six months back Mahesh had tried to take a woman from Kaniyoor to a secluded place. The woman had managed to run away from the clutches of Mahesh successfully. The following day the woman and her relatives had beaten up Mahesh red and blue. Mahesh had apologized then with a promise of not committing the same mistake again. But being what he is, he repeated the same.

Kadaba police have registered the case and investigation is in progress.

Moodabidre: Town police have arrested a person for making false promise of marriage and sexually abusing a girl in Rayi in Bantwal taluk.

The arrested person is Anil (25) a resident of Alangar in Marpady village in Moodabidre. A mason by profession Anil  made false promise to get married to the girl and sexually used her from January 1 to Jan. 15 by making her stay at his house, it is said in the complaint.

He was produced before the court on Wednesday and was sent to judicial custody.  

 

Mulki: a person named Santhosh(28) basically from Bijapur is the accused who has tried to assault a goat sexually. The incident took place in K.S.Rao nagar, Mulki.

On Wednesday night 11 o’clock, this person stole away the goat belong to Muttamma his neighbor. He took the goat inside the lavatory to give his misdeed an action. But the goat shouted and Muttamma woke up when she saw this nasty thing she screamed aloud and woke up localite.
