Ad filmmaker Ram Madhvani is all set to direct his second feature film, after the brilliant Boman Irani-starrer Let’s Talk in 2002.
He will direct Sonam Kapoor in a film based on Neerja Bhanot's life. Bhanot, a flight attendant for Pan Am, was killed when she tried to save the lives of passengers on board a flight which had been hijacked by terrorists.
Neerja, says Madhvani, is a portrait courage during adversity.
"Hers is a story that needs to be told and told with dignity and restraint. When I closed my eyes and thought of Neerja, Sonam Kapoor came to my mind," he says.
Madhvani confesses he has liked Sonam’s work from the start. “I’ve been Sonam Kapoor’s fan since Saawariya. She is just the right fit for Neerja Bhanot’s role."
Meanwhile, Madhvani's desi remake of the Danish series Pinoza with Kajol, is on hold, as the actress backed out.
"I haven’t shelved that project," Madhvani clarifies. "The logistics weren’t working out, so while that project falls into place, I have decided to go ahead with this one. I have been scripting it for one and a half years."
