Rape charges on Peepli Live' writer, co-director Mahmood Farooqui

Film director and writer Mahmood Farooqui has been arrested and sent to judicial custody for six days, after a United States national filed a complaint of rape against him.

According to reports, the alleged assault happened in March and the woman in question filed a complaint against Farooqui at the New Friends Colony police station in New Delhi earlier this week. 

"We filed an FIR on the complaint of the victim on June 19 and Mahmood was arrested the next day. The victim's statement was recorded and investigation is on," said a senior police officer.

The victim complained that she was raped by Mahmood at a rented accommodation in Sukhdev Vihar where she met him to have his help for her research work, said the officer, adding that the complainant was known to both Mahmood and his wife.

The accused had met the 30-year-old research scholar from Colombia University in Varanasi where she had gone to collect information about Baba Gorakhnath.

Farooqui was the scriptwriter and co-director along with his wife Anusha Rizvi for the 2010 film ‘Peepli Live’ produced by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan.

Band Baja Barat of Shahid Kapoor in Bali?

The whole wide world knows by now that Shahid Kapoor is soon going to marry Delhi-based girl Mira Rajput by the end of this year. But what many of you might not know is that the couple are planning a destination wedding for themselves. The wedding nuptials of Shahid and Mira are going to take place in the beautiful island of Bali.

“It is going to be a destination wedding for Shahid and Mira. Discussions in the families are on and most probably it’s going to be Bali where the couple will exchange the vows,” a source revealed.

And with so much scrutiny around their marriage, Shahid and Mira and their families want it to be a low key affair. “It’s not going to be a grand affair. Only relatives and their close friends will be invited for the wedding,” adds the source.

Incidentally, Shahid recently finished shooting for Shandaar, which is also revolves around the concept of destination weddings. The film also stars Alia Bhatt as the female lead.

Several reports stated that the wedding, which was going to take place in December has been preponed to June. “Those reports might be false. Because according to the banter going on in their friends circle, December is going to be the month of their shaadi,” the source further says.

Manish Paul starts filming 'Katha' remake

Mumbai: TV presenter-actor Manish Paul has begun shooting the remake of filmmaker Sai Paranjpye's 1983 cult classic 'Katha'.

The 'Mickey Virus' star is stepping into the shoes of veteran actor Farooque Sheikh in the Khalid Mohamed's-directed film of the same name.

"All set to start my new film Katha... Nervous, excited, happy! Too many feelings and thoughts! First day on the set is always like that," Manish, 33, posted on Twitter.

The original film featured Naseeruddin Shah, Deepti Naval and Sheikh in the lead roles. It was loosely based on the classical Indian folktale of the hare and the tortoise.
