Bengaluru: The Lokayukta police in Bangalore on Thursday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against two former Karnataka chief ministers - BS Yeddyurappa and HD Kumaraswamy - over an illegal land deal in the IT City.
Yeddyurappa has been charged with de-notifying a prime piece of land in Bangalore to benefit a relative of Kumaraswamy. The land in RT Nagar was earlier acquired by the Bangalore Development Authority.
The process of de-notifying the land began during the reign of Kumaraswamy and was formalised when Yeddyurappa was the chief minister.
Both the leaders have been booked for criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and cheating. The FIR also names a man named Rajashekaraiah, who claims to be the owner of the land. The Lokayukta has acted on the basis of a complaint filed by RTI activist Jayakumar Jiremath.
