Policeman dies in the hospital after being crushed by department vehicle
Kasargod: A policeman breathed his last in a hospital here who had suffered serious injuries after a police jeep accidentally moved over his body after he fell on the road on Monday April 20.

The official has been named as Janardana Naik from Kuntalumoole working at Badiadka police station.

It is said that on the evening of the fateful day the policemen had seized a scooter at Pilamkatte for not having proper documents. The scooter was being driven by Janardana Naik towards Badiadka station, while the police jeep was following him. When the scooter was passing by Artipalla bus stand, Naik applied brakes after observing that passengers were crossing the road after alighting from a bus. He however, lost control over the two-wheeler and fell on the road. Instantly, the jeep following him moved over his body injuring him critically.

Naik, who suffered severe head injuries, was immediately taken in the police jeep and admitted into a private hospital here. Later he was taken to a hospital in Mangaluru. But he could not be saved. He breathed his last on Tuesday April 21 after fsiling to respond to the treatment.
