Kerala CM announces 10 new projects for the development of Kollam

Kollam: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Monday announced 10 development projects for Kollam district.

Inaugurating the Kollam leg of Mass Contact Programme, he said steps will be taken for implementing special project for the conservation of Sasthamkotta lake.

A special project worth Rs 21 crore for Alappad coastal areas and other projects as well would be implemented, he said.

With regard to the Medical College taken over by the government from ESI corporation, he said follow up action will be initiated.

Cabinet gave approval for taking up MCH on the basis of the discussion carried out with elected representatives and consensus has been reached regarding the suggestions put forward by ESI Corporation, he said.

Chandy said the follow up activities would be completed and the MCH would be taken up by the Government.

Steps will be taken so that the cashew factories operate on a full scale.

Special package will be given shape for the development of Coir- Fishing sector as well, he said.

First one to receive help from the Chandy in the Mass Contact Programme at Kollam was the 14 year old Padmesh.

Chandy sanctioned Rs 50,000 towards treatment expenses of Padmesh who is affected with brain tumour.
