Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has rejected a demand by KPCC chief V M Sudheeran for CBI probe into the alleged corruption in Malabar cements and related issues.

In a meeting of the government with the party leaders on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that the demand for a CBI probe can be considered only after examining all aspects of the case.

As per reports, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala too backed the stand of the Chief Minister in the meeting.

Interacting with media persons at the DCC office in Thrissur on Thursday, Sudheearn had demanded an investigation by special team of the CBI into the case. He said investigation should be done by officers with a clean track record.

“I am not asking the CBI investigation to make the issue a political controversy. It’s a social issue. The investigation in the death of Sasheendran was not satisfactory. His family does not believe that he committed suicide. A truthful investigation will reveal the facts,” he had said.
