Precious idol theft: Two arrested, another absconding

Kasargod: Two persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the theft cae of precious idols from a temple.

The arrested are Ahmed Kabir (25) from Chattanchal and Sadan (45) a resident of Kanhangad Kammadam. Another accused Thazuddin from Mangad is still absconding.

The accused had stolen the valuable idols from Sri Bhagavathi temple in Kanhangad Kammadam on May 25. The idol contained rare precious metals.

The accused had lifted the idols and after reaching as secluded area they verified it whether the statues contain gold. Then Ahmed Kabir phoned his friend in Kannur, who said that they would get good price for the stolen idols.

The police had inspected the footages from CC cameras and depending on its details they established the identity of the thieves and managed to arrest them.

During interrogation the accused had confessed that they had gone to Bengaluru, Mysuru and other places in Karnataka in search of buyers for the idols.
