Police deny permission for 'kiss day' protest in Kochi

Kochi: The police denied permission for the 'kiss day' protest announced by an organization 'Kiss of Love' at Marine Drive here on Sunday. The move comes in the wake of an Intelligence report citing possibility of violence during the programme.

 'Kiss of Love' had announced the programme to protest the incidents of moral policing. Recently , a restaurant in Kozhikode was vandalised by Yuva Morcha activists alleging that the owners were promoting immoral activities on its premises. The programme is widely supported in social media with its Facebook page getting more than 10,000 likes. The page also says the 'Kiss of Love' volunteers were attacked.

 The volunteers say they were attacked by few persons at Marine Drive while they were interacting with the media.They alleged that the placards were destroyed and volunteers, including woman, were attacked in front of media persons and police personnel.
