Shiv Sena wants a Google Doodle for Bal Thackeray
Shiv Sena wants Internet giant Google to pay tribute to its late founder, Bal Thackeray. A Member of Parliament (MP) from the party has already written to the company, while also requesting the information and broadcasting ministry to assist in their endeavour. January 23 will mark the 89th birth anniversary of the Sena founder.

Shiv Sena’s Mumbai South Central MP Rahul Shewale wrote to Google on January 6, appealing the technology company to honour its founder with a Google Doodle a creative rendition of the company’s logo that is usually made in tribute to iconic personalities. A couple of days later, Shewale wrote to the information and broadcasting ministry in Delhi, addressing minister Arun Jaitley, asking for help to realise the project. Shewale has requested Jaitley to appeal to Google India to complete the formalities before January 23, so as to display Thackeray’s image on the anniversary. “If the image of our great leader is displayed on Google Doodle on his 89th birth anniversary i.e. January 23, it would be a tribute to the real hero, who does not require any introduction as he has always been an inspiration to all young people of our country,” the letter reads. mid-day attempted to contact Shewale several times, but he remained unavailable for comment.
