Extortion case: Dawood’s brother arrested

Mumbai: The younger brother of Pakistan-based underworld don and terrorist Dawood Ibrahim was arrested on Tuesday by the Mumbai Police for allegedly threatening and extorting money from a real estate agent.
The Byculla police station in Mumbai has registered an FIR against Iqbal Kaskar, brother of Dawood, and two others based on a complaint filed by Salim Shaikh, who claimed that they had demanded Rs three lakh. Kaskar would be produced before a Metropolitan Magistrate court on Wednesday.
The alleged incident occurred in a room at Damarwala building at Pakmodia Street in South Mumbai’s Bhendi Bazar area. The case was transferred to J J Marg police station as the scene of the alleged extortion comes under its jurisdiction. The two police stations are located within one-km radius of Kaskar’s residence.
“Kaskar and two others were booked under IPC sections 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention),” police said.
