South actress' mother commits suicide in their Mumbai home
Mumbai: In a tragic incident, a Telugu film actor’s mother committed suicide at their Andheri West residence on Friday night. Police said that 58-year-old Vandana Vijay Burman, who was staying with her daughter Megha Burman, also left a suicide note. Police sources informed that the deceased had been staying with her daughter for some time and was suffering from depression. She had taken an appointment at a private hospital for the same. Her daughter, Megha is an actor and has worked in several Tamil and Telugu films. Her most recent outing was the Tamil film 'Oru Modhal Oru Kadhal', in which she played the lead role. Some of her films include 'Dam 999' and 'Lattoo'

On the day of the incident, Megha was with her mother at their Caesar Road residence in Andheri West. They watched television till late in the night, after which they went off to sleep. In the morning, when the Megha woke up at around 6 am, she found her mother hanging from the ceiling with a dupatta. She immediately brought her body down and took her to Cooper Hospital, where she was declared dead, the police said.

The police recovered a two-page suicide note from the body, addressed to her daughters Megha and Raksha, in which she has said that she is sorry for the act. She has further written that “the demons are inside my head”. She has asked her children to follow their dreams and to be brave.

Vinayak Deshmukh, zone deputy police commissioner, told sunday mid- day that there does not appear to be any foul play in this case. “It appears that she was depressed. However, we are carrying out a detailed investigation of the matter and are taking down statements of the family members,” he added.
