MUMBAI: In a major breakthrough the city crime branch on Sunday have detained three suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a 21 year old son of Ghatkopar based builder, who was kidnapped and released after a month after the family reportedly paid a ransom of Rs 2 crores.

If sources are to be believed the special investigating Team (SIT) formed to probe the case have detained three suspects who kidnapped this boy and kept him under hostile for a month before releasing him on April 13 . Police team were busy on Sunday interrogating the suspects. Suspects were paraded before the victim but there is no confirmation whether the victim has identified them.

Police sources said that if it is established that the suspects are kidnappers, police commissioner Rakesh Maria is likely to address a press conference on Monday.

"It is too early to disclose anything but there is little progress and few persons have been detain and their interrogations are going on.''said Atul Kulkarni, joint commissioner of police (crime).

Sources said that two of the suspect detained are believed to be from the Ghatkopar area where the victim stays.

The only son of a Ghatkopar-based builder, was kidnapped on March 12, was finally released near Panvel in Nashik.

The kidnappers had gave him Rs 2000 while leaving him.

What has embarrassed the police is the fact that the accused eluded the cops and took away the money, which, sources said, was allegedly paid at Aarey colony in Goregaon. Police had seen the kidnappers taking away ransom money but we're helpless fearing that if arrested them, their associates may harm victim who was in their custody than.

Victim was walking near M G Road, Ghatkopar, when someone dragged him inside a car. Before he could raise an alarm, he was given an injection and he later woke up to find himself on the first floor of a bungalow in an undisclosed location. He has said his captors kept shifting him from one place to another and all the accused were masked, but he he can identify their voices.
