New Delhi: In his third radio address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the drug menace that has gripped India's young population and said that a helpline will be started for all addicts very soon.
"During the conference of the state Director Generals of Police in Guwahati, I had touched upong the issue and asked the officers to start a helpline to fight the danger," Modi said in the radio address.
Terming drugs as a 3D problem, Modi said all the substance abuse brings is - Darkness, Destruction and Devastation.
"I had said the last time that I was worried about the youth of the country. I am worried as some sons and daughters get stuck with drugs and the entire family is torn apart," Modi said in his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on radio.
"It can destroy very good families. Drugs is something that can shatter anyone," he added.
"When a child is stuck in something like this, we blame the children. But it is the habit which is bad, not the child, and we should try and keep them away from such things.
"This is a psycho-social medical problem and cannot be solved only through medical means," he said.

Expressing fears that the money earned through drug supply and drug sale could go to drug mafias and terror organisation, Modi asked the youth to ponder over where the money used to buy drugs goes to.
"This money could be used to buy weapons to use against Indian jawans who become martyrs while defending their country," he added.
Urging people to spread awareness about drug abuse Modi called for a social media movement with #DrugFree India. " This can become a means of Lok Shiksha," he said.
During his last radio address, on November 4, PM Modi had invited views on the issue of "mitigating the menace of drugs" and had also asked NGOs working on the issue to share their experiences.
