New Delhi: Isha Ambani and Radhika Piramal, the generation next of India Inc, have been named by Forbes among its 12 'Power Business women' from Asia who are well on their way to forging stellar reputations in their industries.

The 23-year-old Ambani, daughter of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani, is a director at Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Retail Ventures. One of three children of India's richest person and chairman of the $75 billion in revenue RIL, she was named to the telecom and retail units' Boards in October.

Forbes has named 12 savvy, ambitious women-some of whom are well on their way to forging stellar reputations in their industries, others still in apprenticeship but learning fast-in its 2015 list of Asia's Power Businesswomen to watch out for. It said that the world should expect more from these women in the years to come.

On the list is Piramal, 36, managing director (MD) of VIP Industries (luggage). She took over in 2010 turning a sluggish luggage maker into a soughtafter brand that in India outsells world market leader Samsonite and has annual sales of more than $150 million. Forbes said that the daughter of company founder and chairman Dilip Piramal has tapped Bollywood stars to promote her goods. She previously worked at management consultant Bain and is a graduate of Oxford with an MBA from Harvard.

The list includes 42-year-old Jocelyn Kum, the eldest daughter of Singapore hotel magnate Michael Kum, and 36-year-old Jean Liu, president of taxi hailing app Didi Dache. Daughter of Lenovo founder, Liu is the head of a taxi hailing app in China that has just merged with its biggest rival forming the largest company of its kind in the world by users.

Besides, six Indian woman CEOs and MDs, including State Bank of India chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya and ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochchar, have been named by Forbes in its 50 'Power Businesswomen' from Asia who are knocking down walls in the traditional male bastions.

The list also includes Akhila Srinivasan, MD/non-executive director of Shriram Life Insurance/Shriram Capital; Biocon founder chairman and MD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw; Axis Bank CEO and MD Shikha Sharma and Life Insurance Corporation MD Usha Sangwan.

Forbes said that in less than a decade, Srinivasan has catapulted Shriram Life Insurance into one of the top five private players in its industry in India in terms of profitability. Forbes said that Bhattacharya, the first lady of Indian banking, has had her hands full addressing bad loans and shoring up the bank's capital.
