1 killed, 15 hurt as under-construction church collapses

Tirunelveli: One person was killed and 15 were injured when the roof of an under-construction church building collpased here late tonight.

Three other persons were feared trapped under the debris, District Collector M Karunakaran, who is supervising the rescue operations by the Fire and Rescue Service personnel, said.

He said the body of Ebin, a construction labourer from Nagercoil, was pulled out from the debris.

The injured had been admitted to the Medical College Hospital here.

The CSI Church was being built near the bus stand here after demolishing the old structure and the mishap occurred around 10 pm.
