Chennai: IIT Madras has banned a student association named Ambedkar-Periyar Study Circle (APSC) after receiving an anonymous complaint that the group was allegedly spreading hatred against PM Narendra Modi.

The Dean of Students, Sivakumar M. Srinivasan stated that the students didn't follow the protocol of the student association and circulated pamphlets criticizing the Modi government and its policies, according to a report published in The Hindu.

However, the APSC members deny the charges levied against them. They have written a letter to Director Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthi for a detailed explanation.

The anonymous complainant shot an email to the authorities with the controversial pamphlets attached to it.

The complainant said that APSC was mobilizing the schedule castes and schedule tribes to protest against the centre.
