Protests in Delhi over VAT hike order on fuel by AAP Govt.

New Delhi: People held demonstrations here on Thursday against a decision of the Delhi State Government to impose VAT on petrol and diesel.

The Delhi State Government has increased the VAT on petrol from present 20 to 25 percent and on diesel from 12.5 to 16.6 percent effective from midnight last night".

The demonstrators voiced their protests and stated that the Aam Admi Party has not lived up to the promises made by it during the elections.

They also said that the state government was spending money on advertisements in the media which was not required.

"I don't trust AAP ; whatever they promised they have not fulfilled it, and now, they have increased VAT in Delhi. That's again a burden on the common man", said Subhash Pandey, a demonstrator.

I have one question for Kejriwal's government, They are advertising in a huge manner that they are doing what they had promised . Delhi citizens had voted for his party unexpectedly.

"I am a common citizen and I want to know why fuel prices are going high in Delhi while it is less in the country", asked Sachin.

"I don't earn that well and if the Government can do something for us i want them to reduce the fuel prices", said Asad Ali.
