The arrested men were identified as Rakatullah and Abdul Aziz. More details about the duo were awaited.
Though initial reports suggested that they were arrested for their alleged role in last year's Burdwan blasts, police sources said no connection to Burdwan module or the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), which was held responsible for the incident, could be established yet.
Police sources said that the arrested men's laptops contained "jihadi materials" and there interrogation had revealed that they were "part of sleeper cell".
According to sources, the arrests were made on December 19 from Noida on Delhi border in a joint operation by anti-terror squads of Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal and Intelligence Bureau (IB).
Police were still carrying out searches in different areas of Delhi and Noida looking out for more terrorists.
Intelligence sources said more than 50 terror modules have been operating out of West Bengal. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had conducted several raids in Bengal last year in search of JMB terrorists and their local aides and had made some arrests after the state police failed to act against them.
In their interrogation by the IB and the Research and Analysis Wing, it had emerged that the JMB was plotting bombing in many Indian cities.
