Girl jumps from moving auto to save herself from molesters

New Delhi: A B.Tech student here jumped from a moving autorickshaw after its driver along with his accomplices allegedly tried to molest her, police said today. The girl had yesterday boarded the autorickshaw from near Pari Chowk to go to her college, located in Dankaur area, an official said.

The girl alleged that the auto driver allowed some unknown men to board the vehicle and then instead of heading to Dankaur, took the auto towards Yamuna expressway service lane. When the driver turned the auto towards a lonely stretch, she asked him to stop and alight her but the men in auto caught hold of her and attempted sexual assault on her, the official said. She somehow got courage and jumped from the auto rickshaw, he said.

Her college staff took her to hospital after some passersby took her there, the official said.

An FIR has been lodged in the matter but till today police were not able to trace the auto rickshaw driver and his accomplices. Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority chairman Rama Raman today held meeting with senior police officers and directed them to take action against the accused.
