Tips to Stay Healthy in the Monsoons

1. Avoid street food as much as possible during this season, as they are likely to contain bacteria. After all, homemade food is the best. Take moderately hot food and drinks.

2. Use mosquito nets, creams and repellents to protect yourself from mosquito bites.

3. Avoid walking into dirty puddles of water.

4. Dry your feet whenever they get wet. Avoid colds and coughs by keeping your body warm and dry.

5. Don’t enter air conditioned rooms with wet hair and damp clothes.

6. Drink lots of warming herbal teas, especially those with antibacterial properties.

7. If you are suffering from asthma or diabetes, avoid staying anywhere with wet walls. It promotes the growth of fungus and can be especially harmful.

8. Make sure that your house is pest-free during the monsoons.

9. Avoid touching your face after touching any surface or after getting wet as the hands may harbor microbes which may get entry in to the body through facial route.

10. Remember to take bath every time you get wet in the rain or after coming back to home as taking a bath helps in normalizing our body temperature.
