Hero launches Xtreme Sports

Hero MotoCorp has launched an updated version of the Xtreme which comes with a‘Sports’ branding.

The new Xtreme Sports has a single front headlight placed within a stylish cowl equipped with LED lights.

It also has body coloured mirrors and an underbelly cowl. The bike has a split stepped saddle and silver-shaded grab rails.

Hero’s Xtreme Sports is powered by a 149.2cc, four-stroke and single-cylinder engine that produces 15.6bhp of power at 8,500rpm and a maximum torque of 1.4kgm is produced at 7,000rpm.

The motorcycle uses a telescopic front fork setup and a pair of gas-filled shock absorbers at rear. A single 240mm front disc brake is provided along with a 220mm rear disc brake.

The Hero Xtreme Sports costs Rs 72,725 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available in five colours including black, red, silver and orange, along with a dual-tone, black and red paint scheme.

Bike knocks a pedestrian to death

Karkala: One pedestrian died in a bike accident near Anekere in Karkal on Sunday morning.

The deceased is Tammyya Devadiga was on his way home. A speeding bike knocked him. Even after watching Tammayya Seriously injured the bike driver escaped without helping him and even tried to put hands on witness.

The injured was taken to hospital and later to Wenlock but could not survive the injuries said the hospital reports.

Case has been filed.

Bus and bike collision: 5 people injured

Bantwal: On Bantwal –Villupuram NH near Moorje government bus met with an accident with a bike leaving 5 people injured severely. The incident had happened on Friday.

Bike rider Krishnappa(49), bus driver Revanna(35), conductor Nagaraj(36) passengers Parvati(30) and Rajeshawari(30) are injured in the accident. They are taken to private hospital in Mangaluru.

The bus on its way to Bengaluru tried to escape the probable collision with the bike from the opposite side that was overtaking another bus. but the driver of the government bus hit the bike and got slipped off the road and hit the compound near by.

The bike rider was thrown away by the collision and had severe injuries. Passengers along with driver and conductor are injured too. Local people rushed to help the injured persons. Case is registered in Punjalkatte police station.

Parked bike stolen in Puttur

Puttur: A case has been filed in Puttur town police station regarding the theft of a bike parked aside the road.

Prakash Shetty, the owner of Coastal Chicken center had given a Bajaj Platina bike to his staff for their need.

Deviprasad, son of Narayana Gowda a resident of Bannur Balike was riding the bike. He had parked the bike in front of the shop on June 21 and had gone for dinner. But when he returned the bike was missing it is stated in the complaint.

Ducati Bike Range Goes On Sale in India; Adds 2 New Variants of the Scrambler

Ducati, the Italian sportbike maker, that announced its entry in the Indian market in March, 2015 via its official subsidiary, today kick-started the delivery process of its bikes in the country. Though the brand had made its debut in 2009 with its official importer Precision Motor India, the operations stopped in January, 2014 when the Italian bikemaker decided to form its own national sales company with Precision becoming one of its distributors. Ducati India Pvt. Ltd. is the youngest of 12 official global subsidiaries owned by Ducati.

Just so you know, the company currently has its dealerships in Delhi NCR and Mumbai. It has announced that it will open a new dealership in Bangalore in October, 2015, among other cities including Pune and Hyderabad.

The launch event took place at the company's Gurgaon based sales and service centre - one of the largest Ducati dealerships in the world. The company revealed 2 new variants of the Scrambler - Classic and Throttle - in addition to showcasing its entire Indian range; starting from the Monster 795 to its flagship sport cruiser Diavel.

Mr Ravi Avalur, Managing Director, Ducati India Pvt. Ltd., said, "Of the two new Scrambler variants introduced, the Classic is aimed at those who appreciate attention to detail and 1970s style, but who don't want to compromise on riding pleasure and functionality. The Full Throttle version, inspired by the flat track world, is destined for those who want a motorcycle perfect for every-day use and with a distinctive racing style."

Lorry moves backward: Biker makes miraculous escape

Karkala: As the driver of tipper lorry moved his vehicle backwards a bike was completely crushed under the tyres of the lorry while the rider made a miraculous escape. The incident took place on Tuesday June 16 near Nitte Lemina cross here.

The rural police were inspecting the vehicles near Nitte Lemina cross. Seeing this the driver of the tipper lorry belonged to the Agasthya crushers moving to Belman stopped his lorry and started moving backwards.

The lorry driver didn’t notice the bike which was coming just behind the lorry. The bike rider Satish screamed, blew horn to stop the tipper. But as all his efforts went in vain and Satish finally held one of the rods of the lorry and saved his life. The lorry driver who was unaware of the incident tried to run away as he learnt about the incident. The auto drivers of the nearby auto park got hold of him and handed him over to the police.

It is said that the lorry driver was trying to flee from the site as he was not wearing the uniform. Meanwhile Satish is a flower merchant and due to the incident the bundle of jasmine flower of he had bought from the market damaged in the incident incurring a loss of thousand of rupees.  

A case has been filed in rural police station against the lorry driver Chandu.

Elderly man knocked down by bike succumb to his injuries

Mangaluru: An elderly person who wa knocked down by a bike on the night of Wednesday June 10 has died after failing to respond to the treatment on Thursday June11.

The deceased person has been identified as John Monteiro (59) a resident of St. Joseph Nagar.

John Monteiro was on his way home after buying necessary things for his house at around 9.30 pm on Wednesday. He was knocked down by a speeding bike at Nandigudda circle. John sustained serious injuries o his head. He was immediately rushed to the hospital.

The biker responsible for the accident sped away from the site.

The deceased is survived by wife, son and a daughter.

A case has been registered in Traffic police station (East).

One dead as bikes collide head on

Puttur: Rider died and the pillion badly injured as two bikes collided head on at Belya here on Monday June 8.

Vinod, son of Venkappa is the man who lost his life in the incident. The rider of the other bike and the pillion fled from the site after accident. As it was a secluded area the injured were left to bleed for several hours and when the rescue came Vinod had already breathed his last.

A case has been filed in Kadaba police station.
