Let’s build a rape free country said BJP protesters

Karkala: The need of the time is to build a rape free country. To make Gandhiji’s dream come true we should create a society were woman can live without any fear said Savitha Shivanand Kotian, President of Udupi district municipal.

She was speaking in the protest organised by BJP woman wing near bus stand here on Friday to condemn the rape and murder of Nandita Poojary in Thirthahalli. Government is busy in protecting the people and the property of one particular community. Government has to clarify its stand on Nandita murder case. Congress should not forget that the people of every community have voted for them.

The protest was organised at auto rickshaw stand in front of the bus stand. Unaware of this Seetharam an auto driver drove his auto into the gathering. This incident created havoc among the protesters. Police who were present in the spot took the driver into custody. Later protesters told police that the wife of the driver is a mental patient and due to this Seetharam has turned into alcoholic. He might have done this in a drunken stature. Police took Seetharama to the station and later released him.
