Murder for Rs.100: Man sentenced life imprisonment
Mangaluru:  A youth was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life by First Additional District and Sessions Court on Friday January  9  for murdering another man, who refused to pay him after having sex with him.

Rajesh (26) resident of Kunjathbail is the person who was sent to jail for murdering Sundar Poojary in the Old Kent Road in the city on January 20, 2012.

According to the charge sheet by the Mangaluru South Police, Rajesh met Sundara Poojary in the city market and after a while, the two men headed towards a secluded government land near Dhobi Ghat. Rajesh murdered Sundara Poojary, after the latter refused to pay Rs. 100 as promised, after having sex. In a fit of anger, Rajesh hit Sundara and strangulated him before throwing him into an abandoned well, the reports states.

First additional district and sessions judge, B K Nayak, after examining witnesses and verifying evidences, found Rajesh guilty, through a judgment delivered on January 6. The quantum of sentence ordered on Friday are rigorous life imprisonment for murder apart from fine of Rs 10,000. In case of failure to pay fine, imprisonment of one additional year will accrue. For engaging in unnatural sex, five years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 2,000 have been imposed. In case of failure to pay this fine, the guilty will have to remain inside jail for an additional term of six months. For looting, one year rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 1,000 have been prescribed. For destruction of evidence by way of tossing the body into well, two years rigorous imprisonment has been decided.
