Mangaluru: A protest was held in front of the DC office here on Monday January 19 by Tulunada Rakshana Vedike demanding the completion of Varahi project as early as possible.
The protesters were holding the banners that carried the slogans “Give water in Varahi-Leave Nethravathy to us”. The protesters demanded the quick completion of the Varahi project and drop the Nethravathy diversion project.
Speaking on the occasion MG Hegde, leader of Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike said, “60% of the cash allotted for Varahi project has been looted by the corrupt officers. But there is still no water in Varahi. The nation which has reached Mars planet hasn’t got the capable officers and MPs to build a dam across a river. Nethravathy river diversion project will also have the same ending. Only the empty pipes will reach Kolara in the end”.
Yogish Shetty Jeppu and other leaders of the organisation and activists were present.
