New ATC in Mangaluru air port starts functioning on trial basis

Mangaluru: The new Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower that has been installed at the international airport here began functioning on Monday January 19 on a trial basis. This fully air-conditioned tower with a height of 25 metres is equipped with lift facility will function 24*7.
It is learnt that Airports Authority of India will shift all the communication and air traffic control equipment from the old building to the new technical building adjacent to the new tower by the end of May this year.
Director of the local airport, J T Radhakrishna, said that the meteorological department will also be constructing a new technical building here, which will supplement easier handling of air traffic at the international airport here.
