Mangalore Dasara ends with Colourful procession

Mangalore: Navaratri Mahotsava, popularly known as Mangalore Dasara which was celebrated at Gokarnanatheshwara Kshetra at Kudroli here, concluded with a colourful procession of Sharada and Navadurga idols on Saturday.

The 102nd Mangalore Dasara, inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on September 27, witnessed various religious rituals and cultural extravaganza in the last nine days. On Saturday also, Vagishwari Durga Homa, Shiva Pooja, Devi Pushpalankara Mahapooja and Utsava were performed before the procession. MLA J R Lobo and other dignitaries visited the temple. 

The band set of Bangalore youth, the band set of 50 men from Gadag Bamma Sagar (Ron taluk in Gadag district), Chende troupe from Kerala, Nagaswara troupes and a 13-member Dollukunita troupe from Sagar in Shimoga district took part in the procession. 

Men holding colourful umbrellas on both sides of the street added attraction to the procession. The procession which started from the temple and passed through Kambla Road, Ladyhill Circle, Mannagudda Road, Lalbagh, Ballalbagh, PVS Circle, returned to the temple.
