Hit and run case: Bike rider dies on the spot

Mangalore: Bike rider lost his life after an unidentified vehicle hit his bike and fled away from the site. The hit and run case occurred at Uppinangady in Dakshina Kananda district on Monday morning, October 13. The deceased has been identified as U.K. Aboobakar (56), a resident of Uruvalpady in Belthangady taluk. He was a hotel employee and went to meet his daughter in law who was admitted in the hospital for illness. 

The tragedy took place at around 6 a.m. when Aboobakar was heading to his hotel at Puttur. A vehicle collided with Aboobakar’s motorcycle on the Uppinangady-Puttur main road as a result of which Aboobakar died on the spot. The police said that even though check posts were created at junctions on the main road and National Highway 75, the vehicle was yet to be traced.
