Iron rod stealer arrested: Rods worth Rs. one lakh recovered

Moodabidre: Police arrested a robber who had stolen iron rods from a under construction building and seized iron rods worth Rs. 10 lakh on Monday November 10.
The arrested person has been identified as Harish Poojary (35) resident of Boliyar in Kuppepadav. The accused had stolen iron rods worth Rs. 24,000 from an under construction building in Mastikatte being constructed by Devi Kripa builders and rods worth Rs. 15,000 from a building near Nagarakatte being constructed by Shetty builders and developers. The robber had showed knack of his hand during Diwali holidays. He also had stolen a Hero Maestro two wheeler belonged to Keshav in Mangaluru.
Police acted as per the complaint filed by Sudheer. Accused tried to escape from the police when a team of police lead by Moodabidre inspector Anantha Padmanabh was inspecting the vehicles near Biravu in Karinje. The accused who was riding on Meastro vehicle on suing the police abandoned the vehicle and tried to escape from the site. Police gave a chase and nabbed Harish and while interrogation he had confessed to his crimes.
A centring worker and line salesman of Nandini milk Harish was staying at his wife’s house in Shantiraj colony. Many robbery cases had been registered against Harish in the past in various police stations including jewelry theft in his aunt’s house.
