Udupi: Finally the hostel of post metric minority girls has been shifted to the minority and backward classes welfare department from a rented building in Balayipade in Kinnimulky-Udyavar road.
There was only one toilet for the 45 girl students staying here in the rented building. As Janapara Vedike was readying for a protest against the issue seeandsay had warned the authorities and made them proper action towards this problem. Shriram Diwana of Janapara Vedike had alleged that the unconcern attitude of MLA pramod Madhwaraj, district incharge minister Vinayakumar Sorake, minorities and backward classes department officer Sheshappa and Giridhar Ganiga towards the problem is the reason behind the plight of the hostel.
He has also warned of a protest on October 7 infront of Minister Qamarul Aslam’s Bangalore office if the problem is not fixed. Stunned by the warning of the Vedike officers acted swiftly and shifted the hostel. In the rented building there were 85 students and only 2 toilets. The bathroom was also attached to this toilet which further increased the problem. There were neither separate dressing rooms nor sleeping arrangements. The atmosphere was not supportive for studying. Now the hostel has been shifted to a better premise which has made students staying here happy.
