Death case of Pramod Kharvi: Sand mafia suspected behind the death; locals protest

Kundapur: Jayalaxmi, the Mother of Pramod Kharvi who was found dead in Panchagangavali river on Tuesday October 14, has stated that her son has been murdered. Police have registered a suspicious death case regarding her complaint. Locals also demanded a probe into Pramod’s death case.

Feew days ago my son had called me on the phone and said that some persons have threatened him to kill. He also revealed the names of four persons and said he wanted to resign the job. Pramod is a very good swimmer. Then how can he die by falling into the water? Jayalaxmi had questioned in her complaint. The deadbody was handed over to the family after post mortem in Manipal hospital.

As the deadbody was taken to Kharvikeri tense situation prevailed in the region. Locals suspected the hands of sand mafia behind Kharvi’s death and staged a protest demanding the arrest of the culprit by keeping deadbody in the middle of the road. Police immediately arrived at the spot and took the situation under control. Tight police security has been deployed in the area.

Locals demanded the authority to nab the culprits responsible for Kharvi’s death. They staged a protest keeping the deadbody at Shastry’s circle and also blockaded the taluk office. As the police were reluctant to file a complaint locals expressed anger over the police. The protesters withdrew their protest after circle inspector M.Divakar assured them to give justice.
