Chalipolilu a clear winner at the box office: Breaks all Tulu box office records

Mangaluru: `Chalipolilu’ which had created hype even before its release has lived up to the expectations of the audience. The movie is minting money at the box office and the sources have revealed that the film has broken all the previous records of Tulu film industry.

Speaking to the media Prakash Pandeshwar, producer of the movie said, the movie has collected Rs. 45, 79, 776 in its first week in ten theatres across South Kanara and Udupi district. This is a clear sign that the audience has accepted the movie which tickles your funny bones for a complete two and a half hours. 

The film is still running to packed houses in all the theatres in its second week and the movie is all set to run for hundred days without any obstacle. As other theatre owners also demanding for the film the movie will be released in Kasargod, Puttur, Sullia and in other places soon. After which the movie will be screened at Bengaluru, Mumbai and in foreign countries said Veerendra Shetty Kavoor, the director of the movie who is overwhelmed by the response of the audience. Jagannath Shetty Bala, the executive producer and actor Laxman Kumar were present.

In the mean time character artist of Sandalwood Padmaja Rao arrived to the city on Thursday to watch Chalipolilu. Speaking to the media the veteran actress said, Chalipolilu is my third film in Tulu. Chalipolilu has given me more recognition than I ever expected from a Tulu movie. In Kannda movies I was restricted to play only mother and in law characters.  But in Chalipolilu the director gave me Gharwali character which was totally different from my earlier roles and audience has appreciated my new avatar. For this I am thankful to the debutant director she added.

Over all Jayakirana films team has given Tulu movie audience a much awaited freshness which was needed after many Tulu movies failing to reach up to the mark.

PM Modi’s close pal Vishwanath Suvarna dies in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: Vishwanath Suvarna (66) resident of Pandeshwar and a close aide of PM Modi breathed his last on Friday afternoon at his residence after a brief illness.

He had accompanied Modi eight years back while he was in Chandigarh as RSS pracharak and travelled through Punjab and other states to strengthen RSS.

Following health problems Vishwanath preferred to stay at home in Pandeshwar. His body has been kept for public view at his house.

Two ganja transporters arrested in Kadri

Mangaluru: Kadri police arrested two persons who were transporting ganja in the scooter and seized ganja packets on Thursday evening November 6.

The arrested have been identified as Ganesh (19) resident of Akashbhavan and Prajwal (19) a resident of near KPT in Mangaluru. Police have seized 575 gms of ganja, one scooter and two mobiles from the accused. Police said that the accused were transporting ganja from Shivamogga to the city.

Mosque stoned by miscreants in SEZ colony

Mangaluru: Unidentified miscreants attacked a Masjid near SEZ colony located on the outskirts of the city on Thursday night. Miscreants threw stones at Badriya Jumma Masjid located at SEZ colony at Kodikere near Baikampady Industrial Area. This is the scond time the mosque has come under attack in one year.

Trouble mongers damaged two windows of the mosque. A woman reportedly saw two motorcycle-borne men riding away after allegedly throwing two stones at the west side of the mosque. But they could not be identified as the miscreants were wearing helmets. A case has been filed at Panambur police station.

Water cooler donated to Wenlock hospital on Guru Nanak Jayanthi

Mangaluru: North Indian businessmen on the occasion of 546th Guru Nanak Jayanthi, donated a 'Water Cooler' to Wenlock Government Hospital here on Thursday November 6.

Dr. H Rajeshwari Devi, district surgeon and superintendent, Government Wenlock District Hospital inaugurated the Water Cooler by having the first glass of water along with the social worker Balvinder Singh and with other two patients.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Dr Devi said that water is a life giving source. "Balvinder Singh and others have donated a water cooler which was required at Wenlock Hospital and I would suggest others also to show their helping hands towards our hospital." she added

Balvinder Singh addressing the gathering said, "What Guru Nanak was doing to the society, the same thing we are doing. We are trying to help the people who are really in need of help."

Press Club secretary Srinivas Indaje, businessmen Anil Banel, Kishore Patel, Kishore Chawla, Shivakumar Chawla, Murli Ramani, Ishwar Sharma, Kishan Purohit and others were also present on this occasion.

Nursing college student from Bhutan ends her life in PG

Mangaluru: A nursing College girl who was native of Bhutan committed suicide in a paying guest behind the Mangaluru City Corporation building. The incident came to light on Thursday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Detchzyaang (20).

Deceased is the second year student of nursing in Indira nursing college. She was staying alone in PG. It is said that she was under depression since many days. A case has been filed at Barke police station.

Vicky Shetty aide arrested in Kerala

Mangaluru: CCB police have arrested an absconding accused in the murder case of Prashant alias Pacchu, manager of Adinatheshwar roadlines on April 7,2013.

The arrested has been named as Jayesh who is said to be the accomplice of Vicky Shetty. He was nabbed in Kerala.

Earlier police had arrested Bhavanishankar, Navin Shetty, Pravin K.P, Bhavish Pakala, Radhakrishna Shetty, Goutham alias Gouthu, Sharan alias Rohidas  in connection with the case and were sent to the jail. Police had spread a net to trap Jayesh who went absconding after the incident.

After releasing from the jail for the murder of Badruddin of Brahmarakutlu in 2011 Jayesh murdered Prashant to avenge the killing of Bejai Raja alias Shailesh.
