Surathkal: It was total entertainment for the spectators on Thursday night January 15 as six matches were played in PPL at Krishnapur ground here on Thursday January 15.

The first match was played between Falcon Royals and Terminator Kana. Falcons were defeated by Kana boys. Javed of Terminator Kana for his brilliant all round play won man of the match award.

Gimplex Warriors took on U2 Panthers in the second match. Warriors fought hard to get victory over the Panthers in a nail biting competition.

AK Royals and Global Gladiators fought in the third match in which Royals had clear upper hand throughout the match and continued to win the contest.

It was second match for Terminator Kana in the same day. Kana boys played against HNGC. HNGC didn’t find it difficult to defeat already exhausted Terminators. Jayasheela of HNGC earned the man of the match award.

Fifth match was played between Team Elegant and Rising Stars. Stars rose to the victory with their brilliant all round performance. Hidayat of Rising Stars was announced man of the match.

The last match of the night was between U2 Panthers and Royal Rangers. For the first time in the league the match was a tie. The man of the match award was shared between Saleem and Santosh.

Surathkal: Prestigious cricket tournament `Paradise Premier League-2015’ was inaugurated by district in charge minister and forest minister B. Ramanath Rai at Paradise ground in Krishnapur here on Wednesday January 14.

The tournament has been organised by Paradise club (R), Krishnapur. MLA of North Mangaluru and the President of Paradise club presided over the ceremony.  Minister of fisheries, youth and sports, Abhayachandra Jain inaugurated the PPL league.

State health minister UT Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA of Mangaluru South, JR Lobo were present as chief guests.

In an event resembling to that of IPL and KPL the team selection was done by the enthusiasts. Ten teams were selected namely, FSC, Terminators Kana, GE, AK Royals, IN rising Star, Team Elegant, HNGC, Gimplex warriors, U2 Panthers and RR Angaragundi.

The special attraction of the debut PPL league is the inaugural match which will be played between the teams of MLA Moidin Bava and Minister Ramanath Rai.  Both the teams will have MPs, MLAs and MLCs from different political parties.

A cash prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh and a PPL trophy for the winning team and Rs. one lakh for the first runner up and PPL trophy will be awarded. The man of the series will have a motor bike and PPL trophy whereas man of the match will be awarded with mobile phone.

The league will be played from 14 to 18th January from 5.30 in the evening to 2am. All the teams are geared up for the first of its kind cricket league in the district and hoping to win the inaugural trophy of PPL.

The first match of the league was played between Falcon Royals and AK Royals. In which Falcons managed to fly high with their first victory in the league. Captain of Falcons Shawaz bagged man of the match award for his outstanding performance.

The second match was between Royal Rangers and Rising Stars. Rangers showed their brilliancy on the field and earned a Royal victory in the match. All rounder of the Royal Rangers team, Imtiaz was awarded with the man of the match.

Final match played between Global Gladiators and HNGC. Gladiators ruled the every bit of the match and emerged as victorious. All rounder Fawaz of Gladiators earned man of the match for his excellent all round performance.

Eastern Arabia sponsored Western Trophy tournament was held at Dharan Mall ground.
8 teams were selected for the tournament.

1st semi final match played between BMC vs AL AMEEN, where BMC won the match by 9 wickets.

 2nd semi finals held between PAN GULF vs MANGLORE FRIENDS
Pan gulf chased the target but lost by 5 wickets.

In the finals the match was held in SAB ground and BMC won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Raju and Abid started the innings with a kick. They chased the score at the run rate of 10 per over. Wicket keeper also a batsman Hamza scored fastest 50 runs. Akthar scored 28 runs in 8 balls & took 4 wickets and declared as ‘the man of the match’. BMC’s total score was 168.


Pan gulf as soon as they started lost 4 wickets in just two over’s. Blowers of BMC bowled very well with superb line and length. Pan Gulf ended with just 68 runs. BMC won the Western Trophy 2014 - 15 by 100 runs.

In the presentation ceremony, chief guests Salman from Sab Warriors, Sathish Bajal from BMC, Usman from Pan Gulf did the presentation.

Organizers of this tournament were Eastern Arabia.  Afwan Karkala , Niyaz, Imran, Iqbal, Prashanth ,Ashraf Goa were given gratitude.

Dammam: Masa held its one day Internal Cricket, 10over knock out tournament for its members at Sabsa Ground, Rakah on Friday, 21st November 2014. Eight teams of age group above 15 were formed with a rule of everyone to play a minimum of 6 balls and to retire. In the afternoon session matches were also held for juniors of below 15 age group along with semi-final and final rounds for seniors.  

Throughout the day, it was a fun filled entertaining cricket for the members. In the morning while inaugurating the tournament Advisory committee member Ravi Karkera and President Dayanand Shriyan urged all the participating players ‘to be serious, but don’t be too serious’ as this is game played for fun and entertainment. Some of the matches witnessed in a nail biting finish which created excitement, suspense and thrill among the spectators and teammates. Family members witnessed the match with great excitement and were cheering their favorite teams and players. Thanks to General Secretary, Naveen Bhandary, Jt. Secretaries Vidyadhar Shetty and Mohammed Nooman for coordinating in scheduling well organized tournament, Gopal Shetty for arranging Trophies, Ahmed Gulam Beary, Usman Hosangadi, BabuKotebettu and Mohideen Shaikh for catering management.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks were arranged at the venue. Everyone enjoyed the game of cricket under the pleasant weather condition prevailed throughout the day. Final match took place between MSC (Mangalore Saudi Cricketers) lead by Ranjith Shetty and Karavali Lions lead by Abdul Rahim Arkula. At the end it was MSC who stood top on the list in a nail biting situation and won the MASA Internal Cricket Winter Trophy 2014, prestigious title.
