India reach 342-5 at stumps on third day

Virat Kohli smashed his fourth hundred of the series and Lokesh Rahul scored his maiden century as India moved to 342-5, trailing Australia by 230 runs at stumps on the third day of the fourth Test.

Kohli produced a sparkling 140 not out with 20 boundaries at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday to go with his twin centuries in the first test at Adelaide and his 169 in Melbourne’s third test.

Rahul (110), playing his second test, reached his milestone shortly before tea after earlier surviving a dropped catch and a missed run—out.

Wriddhiman Saha was 14 not out with Kohli at stumps.

Shane Watson took wickets Ajinkya Rahane and Suresh Raina in consecutive balls to lift the hosts in the final session.
