Mangaluru: “I have been related to Mangaluru from my childhood. The kind of inspiration that my family has derived from close association with T A Pai has told a lot of stories for us to get motivated. Mangaluru has implemented the idea of private medical care even before the world thought about it. Coming to Mangaluru is like getting more ideas and knowledge, said Nirmala Seetharaman, minister of State for Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
She was addressing the gathering in ‘Commerce Policy for Future India’ programme organized by the Mangaluru Initiative for Nationalist Dialogue here at Sanghanikethan on Saturday January 3.
She further added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to remove all the obstacles that lead to corruption and make people suffer. We want to treat every state equally. Every state is important for us and no discriminations will be made in policy making, she said.
"Make in India is not just another scheme through which we are giving some money. It also talks about the mindset, it also talks about the entrepreneurial skill that we have, the spirit that this country always had." The idea is to create job for the people, she added.
Former MLC Monappa Bhandary and many other BJP leaders were also present. Walter D'Souza and Padmanabh Konkodi submitted the memorandum to the minister on the occasion.
