Mangaluru: Thousands of devotees participated in the annual feast of Infant Jesus shrine at Carmel hill in Bikarnakatte at 6 pm on Wednesday,January 14.
Masses were held throughout the day in different languages. The devotees were flocking the church since morning. They offered prayers to seek God’s divine intervention and blessings.
A solemn mass was celebrated by Dr Ignatius D'Souza, the Bishop of Bareilly.
In his homily Bishop said, "A family is God's plan. In family life, trust among the family members is very important for the welfare of the family. What do we see in our families today? Today the young children are finding dificult to respect their parents, it is easy to drop them in orphanage and visit once a while. Family's are broken, divorces have increased, greed has increased, there is no spirit of sacrifice in life.
The Bishop further said, "Unconditional love of God is shown to us in Jesus Christ. And to show that love, Jesus sacrificed himself. From today, let us try to put more love, confession and tolerance in our families. Let our families be shrines of peace and love."
The Bishop was felicitated on this occasion. The winners of 'Star Wars' were awarded prizes by the Bishop. Fr. Stephen Alwyn Pereira OCD delivered the vote of thanks.
