Haleangady: Demand for including Tulu language in the 8th column of the constitution is still going on. But no fruitful result has come out. Recognition for Tulu language has remained an unheard cry of the protesters. But the positive result of these fights and protests is that the people became more aware of the Tulu script now. The existence of one language depends on its popularity. So to make Tulu script popular the people of Pakshikere-Koikude chose an innovative idea. The youngsters of this village installed a board in which the name of the village is written in Tulu script.
The members of the local organisation named `Yuva Kesari’ have installed a board mentioning the name of their village in Tulu. Locals and pro tulu activists appreciated the work of the youths of this village. This is also an example for other pro tulu activists to spread awareness among the people about Tulu language and script.
