Illegal sand dockyards of Kundapura- Kharvikeri vacated.
Kundapura: Five illegal dockyards here in Kundapura were vacated on Monday on orders passed by District commissioner Dr. R. Vishal.

After a mysterious death of a man in kharvikeri near the dockyard which was alleged to be a preplanned murder, people of Kharvikeri had lodged a complaint to the DC asking him to vacate the sand laundering business.

DC. Vishal probed into the matter and passed an order to the Revenue office and to the Police station to vacate illegal sand dockyards at Kharvikeri  Panchagangavali river banks.

On Monday Revenue officer Timmappa Shettigar and police sub inspector Nasir Husain along with constables Raju Mogaveer , Lokesh and gram karanik Bharath kumar visited the place and vacated  illegal sand dockyards.

Since ages illegal sand laundering is taking place all over including Kharvikeri. Even after several   protests in front of Taluk office and Sub Division offices, no action was taken. This time Konkan kharvi people lodged a written complaint.
